  • Arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes pain & swelling in the joints.

    Arthritis is a simple wear and tear of cartilage in certain joints primarily in hip, knees, hands, lower back leading to a stiffness, pain and eventually complete immobility.

    Types of Arthritis:

    • Rheumatoid Arthritis( Ama Vata)
    • Osteo Arthritis or Degenerative Arthritis ( Sandhi Vata)
    • Gout ( Vata Rakta)

    Factors contributing to Arthritis
    In Ayurveda, Arthritis is caused due to various factors that includes advancing age, genetics, congenital disorders & female gender.

    Risk factors that can modify Arthritis according to Ayurveda include:

    • Obesity
    • Diabetes
    • Poor Digestion
    • Sedentary Lifestyle
    • Consuming too much fat
    • Food habits incompatible with the constitution.

    Rheumatoid Arthritis, is caused by ama produced due to poor digestion & imbalanced Vata

      This procedure is a prerequisite in Panchakarma procedure and helps in releasing the impurities in the form of sweat and relaxes the tense muscles and makes you feel relaxed and lighter in the body.
    2. Pizhichil Massage
      This procedure involves the massage with the bolus containing various herbs to help reduce inflammation and improve the blood circulation.
    3. Navrakizhi Massage
      This procedure involves the massage with the boluses prepared with navra rice cooked in herbal decoction & then dipped in milk cooked with herbs to help with Arthritis.
    4. Virechana
      This procedure is a bio purificatory cleansing one to balance the aggraved pitta and ama in the body.
    5. Basti
      This procedure involves the cleansing and alleviating the aggravated Vata to treat Arthritis.

    6. Kati Basti
    This procedure helps with lower backache and lumbago pain.

    Ayurvedic Diet
